Minechat and Me

I recently had the opportunity to be the guest on Colin Gallagher's fabulous show, Minechat. We took a tour of my most recent published project, Chang'an. I shared the experience with my students just yesterday. Even though I told them that I would be sharing their work with others, I don't think they realized it until we watched part of the interview. They sat in dead silence. Afterward, I once again reminded them why I push them so hard to become better writers. We spent a great deal of time getting their writing in a condition to publish and I think they made the connection after watching the video and hearing comments from visitors.

We are off to our next project, each period is recreating a medieval English village, which will include even more writing and some screencasting.

John Miller has created a Minecraft world where his students can build an ancient town from the Chinese Tang dynasty. With each house they build they write on an information block the story of the people who live in each dwelling. You can read more about it here: http://minecraft.edtecworks.com/2013/12/18/class-project-tang-dynasty-capital-city-build-with-minecraftedu/ After you watch our episode of course!
